These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website at goldenthreadelectronics.com, our mail-in repair services, our sale of refurbished electronics, and any related communications (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Who We Are

Golden Thread Electronics is a Louisiana-based limited liability company that provides electronics repair services and sells refurbished consumer electronics. We serve customers throughout the United States via mail-in service from our operations in Carencro, Louisiana.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction if higher, to use the Services. By using the Services, you represent that you meet these requirements and that you have the legal authority to enter into these Terms.

3. Repair Services

3.1 Quote and Deposit

We provide non-binding estimates through our online quote tool based on the device information you supply. To reserve a repair slot and initiate mail-in shipping, you must pay a repair deposit and select a two-way shipping tier appropriate to your device. Deposit and shipping charges are shown at checkout and are payable in advance.

3.2 Diagnosis and Final Pricing

Upon receiving your device, we perform a diagnostic evaluation. If the actual repair cost exceeds your quoted estimate, we will contact you with a revised quote before performing any work. You may approve, decline, or request that your device be returned unrepaired. If you decline, we will return your device using the shipping tier you already selected; the repair deposit is non-refundable once diagnostic work has begun.

3.3 Data and Backups

You are responsible for backing up any data on your device before sending it in. While we take care to preserve data whenever possible, we cannot guarantee that data will not be lost, altered, or deleted during repair. Some repairs (including but not limited to logic-board repairs and factory resets) may result in data loss.

3.4 Non-Original and Aftermarket Parts

Where original manufacturer parts are unavailable, cost-prohibitive, or otherwise impractical, we may use quality aftermarket or third-party parts. We disclose the source of major components whenever practical, and you may request original-only parts in advance (subject to availability and revised pricing).

3.5 Warranty on Repairs

Repairs are warranted for ninety (90) days from the date the device is shipped back to you, covering only the specific defect that was repaired and only the parts and labor supplied by us. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage occurring after the repair, further impact damage, unauthorized modification, or issues unrelated to the original repair.

4. Refurbished Device Sales

4.1 Condition Grades

Refurbished devices are graded and described on the product listing. All devices undergo functional testing and cosmetic grading before sale. You should review the product description carefully before purchasing.

4.2 Warranty on Refurbished Devices

Unless otherwise stated on the product listing, refurbished devices are warranted for ninety (90) days from the date of delivery against functional defects. Cosmetic issues disclosed at time of sale are not covered.

4.3 Returns

You may return an unopened refurbished device for a full refund within 14 days of delivery. Opened devices with disclosed defects may be returned within 30 days for repair, replacement, or refund at our discretion. Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer unless the device is defective on arrival.

5. Shipping

Mail-in repair orders include prepaid, insured shipping labels in both directions ("two-way shipping"). Risk of loss transfers to the carrier once you drop the package off with the carrier and remains with the carrier until we receive it. Similarly, when we ship your repaired device back, risk of loss transfers to the carrier until you receive it. We insure each shipment for the reasonable replacement value of the device.

6. Payments

All payments are processed by our payment processors (currently Shopify Payments and Shop Pay). We do not store your full payment card details. All prices are in U.S. dollars. Taxes are calculated and disclosed at checkout where applicable.

7. Communications

7.1 Email Communications

When you place an order or submit an inquiry, you consent to receive transactional emails from us regarding your order or request. You may opt out of promotional emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any promotional email.

7.2 SMS / Text Messages

If you provide your mobile phone number in connection with an order, you consent to receive text messages from Golden Thread Electronics related to your repair or purchase, including status updates, tracking information, quote confirmations, and important service notices. Message frequency varies based on order activity. Message and data rates may apply. You may reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time or HELP for help. 8. Intellectual Property

All content on our website — including text, graphics, logos, images, and software — is the property of Golden Thread Electronics or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Golden Thread Electronics is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Services is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific product or service that gave rise to the claim.

10. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except as expressly stated in these Terms. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or harmful components.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where the changes are material, post a notice on our website. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
